FAQ: FAQ

What is Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a system of alternative medicine that was developed in the late 18th century by Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician. The fundamental principle of homeopathy is "like cures like," which means that a substance that can cause symptoms in a healthy person can be used to treat similar symptoms in a sick person.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), homeopathy is the second largest medical system for primary health care in the world. It is prevalent and widely accepted in many parts of the world including Europe, where over 100 million people use it on a regular basis. In America, during the early 1900s, the most prestigious medical schools in this country were homeopathic.

The main concept behind homeopathy is that a substance, when administered in highly diluted and potentized forms, can stimulate the body's natural healing response. Homeopathic remedies are made from various natural sources, such as plants, minerals, and animals. The substances are diluted in a step-by-step manner and vigorously shaken (succussed) between each dilution.

The dilution process is believed to enhance the remedy's therapeutic effects while minimizing any potential toxic side effects. Homeopathy operates on the principle that the more a substance is diluted, the more potent and effective it becomes in stimulating the body's self-healing mechanisms.

Is Homeopathy Safe?

Homeopathic medicines have been used for more than 200 years and have established a remarkable safety record over that time. Homeopathic medicines offer some of the safest choices for self-treatment.  Medicines used in Homeopathy are produced after many consequent dilutions of the initial substance and succussions (vigor shaking) after every dilution. The degree of dilution is so high that the remedy cannot be harmful anymore. For that reason, Homeopathy can be applied for safety in children and pregnant women.

What kind of conditions can be treated with Homeopathy?

Homeopathy can be applied to a wide range of illnesses including acute inflammations, chronic diseases, and mental/emotional disturbances. Homeopathic treatment tries to address the underlying disturbed state of an individual. Homeopathy by its nature, is more interested in how this disturbance is expressed through the totality of  the symptoms that a person presents. By treating the totality of symptoms we actually treat the whole person and not just a symptom. For example if we have to treat two patients diagnosed with asthma, it is very likely that they will need different homeopathic medicines. This is because it is very likely that asthma appeared in these patients for different reasons. Maybe the first patient had asthma attacks after a serious cold and the second patient developed asthma after an emotional shock such as fright.

How does Homeopathy work?

During a homeopathic consultation, the homeopath conducts an in-depth assessment of the patient's symptoms, physical and emotional state, and overall health history. Based on this information, the homeopath selects a specific homeopathic remedy that closely matches the individual's symptom profile.

Can I use homeopathy alongside other types of treatment?

es, you can use homeopathy alongside other types of treatment. Homeopathy is often considered a complementary therapy, meaning it can be used in conjunction with conventional medicine and other healthcare approaches. It is generally safe to combine homeopathic remedies with treatments prescribed by medical doctors, as homeopathic remedies are non-toxic and are not known to interact adversely with conventional medications.

Using homeopathy alongside other treatments can offer a more holistic and comprehensive approach to healthcare. However, it's essential to inform all your healthcare providers about the different treatments you are using to ensure they are aware of your complete medical history and can make informed decisions about your care.

It's important to note that while homeopathy can be a valuable addition to a healthcare regimen, it should not be used as a substitute for essential medical treatments, especially in cases of serious or life-threatening conditions.
